Q: What age children do you accept and does my child need to be toilet trained?

A: New Horizon Learning Center accepts children ages 6weeks to 12 years old. It is our policy to evaluate each child individually for his/ her specific needs at the time of enrollment.

A: Toilet training will be different for each child, and New Horizon Learning Center believe that each child should be allowed to progress at their own pace. We will work with the families to ensure that all needs are met. Diapers are checked routinely, using gloves to ensure the health of all the children.

Q: What are your hours of operation?

A: We are open from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm Monday-Friday

Q: Do I need to make an appointment to visit your center?

A: We have an open door policy. As long as a staff member is available you may visit and tour at any time. It is best to avoid visiting our center between 12-2:30. (Toddlers and preschoolers)Those times are used for Nap time and transitions.

Q: How do I enroll my child?

A: Come into the facility for a tour, and talk with the teachers and Directors. There are 5 things that need to be done in order for your child to attend the facility.
1. All pages of enrollment/registration packet completed.
2. A copy of your child’s most current immunizations(shot) record
3. Enrollment fees, which are Non-Refundable. This payment Guarantees the space for your child.
4. We need a physical signed by your physician within the first 30 days of enrollment (immediately for infants and toddlers)
5. Financial Agreement signed and payment for student.

Q: What is the tuition?

A: Please contact the Center (267) 799-4684 or the Director (215) 499-8760 for these rates and more information. We are offering a special discount for the first 25 students who are pre-registered for the new school year.

Q: Is this a preschool or a daycare program?

A: Your child attending this facility ages 2-5 years and Kindergarten Prep will be in an excellent preschool environment. There are many activities that your child can benefit from! They will have the opportunity to explore their environment through play, music, using cooking and science projects, language arts, small group activities and large group activities such as circle time or morning meeting and reading. The learning and fun continues throughout the day.

Q: How do you ensure the health and safety of my child?

A: HEALTH: In the event of illness, the parent will be notified immediately and the child will be isolated and made as comfortable as possible until the parent arrives. If the illness is contagious, than the other children will be monitored and all parents will be notified. (MUST HAVE A DOCTOR’S NOTE TO RETURN) INJURY: In the event of an injury, the child will be treated immediately and an accident report will be written, which must be signed by the parent. In case of all head injuries, the parent will be notified. All New Horizon Learning Center staff members hold a current First Aid and CPR certifications. An EMT will be call if needed. SAFETY: Parents are required to sign their child in and out. If not known positively by the staff member on duty, the parent will be required to show proper Identification. CHILDREN WILL BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE CENTER WITH A PARENT OR AUTHORIZED ADULT ONLY. No child is ever left alone or unsupervised.

Q: What type of discipline is used?

A: At New Horizon Learning Center, we believe in setting boundaries, not building fences. Discipline will be constructive and educational in nature, such as diversion, separation from problem situations, talking with the child about the situation, and praise for appropriate behavior. The children are encouraged to be safe and respectful to their peers, the staff members and property of New Horizon Learning Center.

Q: Will your center be closed on snow days?

A: We will be closed if Pennsbury school district is closed unless you’re contacted by the Director to say otherwise. If the school district has a delay we will be open regular time without a delay. Please feel free to call the center the morning of to hear more details before coming in.

Q: What Qualifications are required of your staff ?

A: We strive to find those who are warm, nurturing and understand child development.
We seek employees who value working as a team with parents, colleagues, and as an individual.
1. Each staff person has a complete file with 3 written references pertaining to their character, written verification of previous experience, FBI, CHILD ABUSE AND POLICE CLEARANCES.
2. Each staff person must have a physical examination with a TB test. (NEG reading)
3. Each staff must be CPR certified and first aid administered.
4. AT least 6 hours of DPW required annual training and 12 Hours of training for Keystone stars.
5. Each staff member must be a high school graduate /GED to be employed at New Horizon.
6. Head teachers must be a college graduate with a CDA, AA, MA, BA degree in early childhood education, psychology, social work and Education.
7. All employees must have at least 2 years of childcare experience or have worked in a childcare setting for at least 2 years.
